Carried in dreams, we work the Yellow Seas

Into Carcosa
11:37
|
|||
"What are you afraid of?"
"I'm afraid of being tricked."
"By the devil?"
"No, no, I have too much fear of the devil. He's with me always. I'm afraid of the stranger. I'm afraid of an Enchanter."
"There are no Enchanters here."
"There are Enchanters . . .everywhere."
Set my coordinates, and struck the silver gong
For the path between the worlds, and how long I'd be gone
Brought my belongings, and tied them in a sack
Left behind a message to say when I'd be back
Into Carcosa, where I lost my only friend
Among the endless streets of imagination
The King in Yellow walks in rags, apart from everyone
The thoughts of men are stretched apart, in the shadow of the Black Sun
I walked among the shades of men, lost and trying to be whole
Blinded by their loneliness, abandoned by their soul
Into Carcosa, beyond the world of time
Protected from the Black Seas, I carried the Yellow Sign
Into Carcosa, I was summoned to my death
To build the city brick by brick, for the time that I have left
I found him hiding from the Yellow King, when I offered him my help
I separated the fragments of his weary soul, and took it for myself
Into Carcosa, I carried the Yellow Sign
I threw down my belongings, and took back what was mine

Land of Snakes
08:27
|
|||
They voyaged here from the land of snakes
They brought their demons . . .prophesied with bones
They take your spirit, shake it till it breaks
They take your reason, take your sleep
Twist your insides till it makes you weak
Best stay inside when the sun goes down
Demons come a calling
Best stay inside when the sun goes down
They call without a sound

Breathe In
04:00
|
|||
Breathe in, I feel like the wind
Coming from within my soul
Old as time foretold
I feel like the darkness, old and strange in a forgotten myth
No one knows and nothing grows inside the mystery
Pristine, the world unseen as the darkness puts the land to sleep again
Twisted and eternal, the garden buried beneath the plough
A star thrown down from heaven, torn asunder with a vow
And the land cries like a flower from a strange field
Breathe in, I feel like the wind
Coming from within my soul
Old as time foretold
Breathe in, breathe in
Under a strange star
Under a strange star

Driving in Arkham

"There's another way in, but I thought that you would like to see the old way in . . .the back way in."
By moonlight I saw the dense, wiry vegetation and gnarled, twisted trees that had been left alone hundreds of years, shrunken by age, forgotten, forlorn vestiges of a desolation outside of time. Stunted trees stunted shadowy growth, dark, dismal, abysmal growth coming alive within the darkness like a nocturnal creature of the night. Behind the sick, loathsome trees I saw the dark hills, silhouetted against the starlight. I saw no signs of life along this road, no buildings, no ploughed fields nor any other thing to give it relevance, instead, it was bleak, the bleakness that comes down in torrents upon a razed village. It made me think of decay . . .death.

"I must acquaint myself with the night, not from the safety of the Castle, but in the House of the Watchers, the others . . .and the wolves. I stand before the Great Sea, surrounded by nothing. Here, not even the dark hills can torment man. The steady drumming of the waves is a blessing, for I feel this same drumming in my own heart."

Last Dance

Together on the long road, our fates are intertwined
We're never coming back again from the other side
The long road leads to the beautiful
The long road never ends
The long road turns upon itself, and back again
Change course change time, can't stay on this road too long
Change lanes change the rhyme, can't stay on this song too long
But there's time enough, there's time for us
If we could just fall into forgetfulness
We're stuck on this road with no end in sight
Wondering if we can still fight the fight
And that's when your spirit comes to me
Like a sounding from the deep blue sea
The winds kiss your spirit once whispered
From the heavens, for eternity
In the heavens for eternity

Across the Wall of Sleep
06:19
|
|||
Drifting off into supernal perpetuities
Summoned forth I pass the wall of sleep
Across the bridge of stone, I enter the distant city
I come upon the vast and ancient tessellated streets
Greeted by elders who rule the sleeping city
I drink from the sacred cup of jewels
Sweet smoke is curling from the censers of the priests
The walls are lined with skeletons of sorcerers and holy fools
Here I am a traveler beyond the wall of sleep
My journey is uncertain, my body wasted and weak
Here I am a traveler, I walk the ancient cities
My bewilderment is fantastic and complete
My senses are confused by the sound of a strange music
I stop my ears, but the sound is in my mind
Against my will I fight peculiar strains of sympathetic music
Ethereal and dark, yet so strangely sublime
There are realms of the mind beyond the vast seas of infinity that are too terrible to contemplate within the waking mind. Mercifully these places exist beyond the wall of sleep, and our dreams protect us from such visions unless we be summoned forth.
Here I am a traveler beyond the wall of sleep
My journey is uncertain, my body wasted and weak
He I am a traveler I walk the ancient cities
My bewilderment is fantastic and complete

Under a Strange Star
06:13
|
|||
"And so I left her a paper flower, not a real flower as such would wither and die. But the paper flower will live forever, like a song. And all these things of this world are like the Queen and the rose. But our songs, our poems and our true love are like the imitation. If you think of us, we will be there. And we will be pure, with no fault."
The moon shines on your face, and it follows you home
I walk with you, but your home is very far
You walk your own way, and you smile
Under a strange star
The dawn shines in your eyes, and she smiles upon your face
The world adores you
when you smile
Under a strange star
